Doing a podcast where I get to sit down with some of the best in the business, talking about marketing, growth, failures, and the setbacks that shaped the success, and sharing the real stories behind what actually works, has always been a dream of mine. And woohoo\u2026 it\u2019s finally happening.<\/span><\/p>

So let me welcome you to the very <\/span>first episode of The Casey Zeman Show.<\/p>

I\u2019m really excited about this one because I got into a conversation with Marquel Russell about something I know a lot of you are going to connect with, especially if you\u2019re building your business with webinars and things are working\u2026 but also starting to feel heavier than they should.<\/strong><\/p>

Marquel is the CEO of Strategic Scale Institute, and his strategies have helped clients generate over a billion dollars in revenue. But what stood out to me in this conversation wasn\u2019t just the scale; it was how simply he broke down what actually needs to change when your business starts depending on you for everything.<\/span><\/p>

Because there\u2019s a stage in business that a lot of us hit, and we don\u2019t really talk about it enough.<\/span><\/p>

You\u2019re doing $30K, $40K, maybe even $50K months. Your webinars are converting, sales are coming in, and from the outside it looks like things are working exactly the way they should. But behind the scenes, everything still runs through you. You\u2019re the one running the webinars, stepping in when something breaks, answering questions, managing the team, and making sure everything holds together. And over time, it starts to feel heavy in a way that\u2019s hard to explain, because technically\u2026 things are going well.<\/span><\/p>

I\u2019ve been there, and for the longest time I thought scaling just meant doing more. More webinars, more effort, more pushing. And that does work for a while, until you realize that the more you grow, the more your business starts to depend on you.<\/span><\/p>

That\u2019s where this conversation really shifted things for me.<\/span><\/p>

We got into this idea of duplication and multiplication, and how real scaling isn\u2019t about doing more, it\u2019s about building things in a way that they can work without you being in the middle of everything. It\u2019s the shift from everything depending on you to actually creating assets inside your business. Because if every webinar depends on you showing up live, if every process lives in your head, and if every decision needs your input, then what you really have is a very efficient job, not a scalable company.<\/span><\/p>

One of the simplest but most powerful things we talked about is just recording everything. Every time you build something, capture it. Every time you run a webinar, document the process. Every workflow, every step, every system becomes something you can reuse, improve, and eventually hand off. That\u2019s how you start removing yourself as the bottleneck, and that\u2019s how your first hires actually start creating leverage instead of adding more complexity.<\/span><\/p>

It\u2019s not the exciting part of building a business, and it doesn\u2019t give you instant results, but it\u2019s the part that actually gives you your time back.<\/span><\/p>

And that\u2019s the bigger shift we kept coming back to throughout the conversation, the difference between making money and actually building a company. Because those are two very different paths, and if you\u2019re not intentional about it, it\u2019s very easy to stay stuck being the operator in your own business.<\/span><\/p>

One more thing I\u2019ll say about this conversation is that Marquel\u2019s story itself is a reminder of what\u2019s possible, because from dropping out in 10th grade to building multiple Inc. 5000 companies, his journey isn\u2019t just about scale, it\u2019s about how differently he thinks about building a business.<\/span><\/p>

We also got into things like how to actually identify where you\u2019re the bottleneck, how to get real ROI from your team instead of just adding more people, and why you should build your business like you\u2019re going to sell it, even if you never do.<\/span><\/p>
